Check if the Drive is Visible. In case your drive does not appear in Finder but shows up in Disk Utility, here is what you can do. Open the Finder window and check under the favorite list. If your drive appears faded, select the drive. It may become visible afterwards. Reboot your Mac and Reconnect the Disk. Turn off your Mac. Connect the external hard drive to your Mac and copy the important data to the Mac PC. Now connect the external hard drive to Windows 8 computer and format it in FAT32 file system. Next, click on the 'Preferences' option. Next, select the 'General' tab when the Finder preferences window appears on your Mac screen. After that, check the box 'Hard disks' under 'Show these items on the desktop'.
