WD My Book 12TB Desktop External Hard Drive for Windows/Mac/Laptop, USB 3.0 Black (WDBBGB0120HBK-NESN) Dimensions: 6.72' x 1.93' x 5.48'. Weight: 2.14 lbs. Package Contents. Western Digital (WD) hard drives are formatted with NTFS (Windows) or HFS+ (Mac) by default to make them more compatible with both operating systems. Granted, FAT32 is less efficient than NTFS in Windows, but it has inherent benefits too, like its compatibility. My WD Passport for the Mac is the best external hard drive anyone can buy for the Mac computer. It is fast, simple set up, and the ease of use which makes it perfect. I am a college student and purchasing this was an absolute no brainer. Highly recommend!
As long as you are using macOS to manage the drive then yes the WD drive is compatible. If you are using the WD software, then you need to contact WD to see if their software is compatible as I'm sure the WD website may contain misleading information.
FYI, it is much safer to just have macOS manage the WD drive. To do so just move everything on the WD drive to another drive temporarily. Then use the WD software to disable any security features on the WD drive. Then uninstall the WD software by following the manufacturer's instructions. Now use Disk Utility to erase the WD drive as GUID partition and MacOS Extended (Journaled) if you are only using it on a Mac or as GUID partition and ExFAT if you will share it with a Windows computer. Now move all your files back to the WD drive.
Once everything is working you can upgrade to Catalina. Just make sure to have good verified working bootable backups before upgrading in case something goes wrong or you decide you don't like Catalina and want to revert back to the current macOS. Malwarebytes for mac review 2019.

Xbox one s controller mac bluetooth. Hello Zanaelf
If you look at the format of the external hard drive, it is probable setup to NTFS and is something that Macs can read and copy from but cannot write to it. The only way you can do that is to reformat the drive to either so that it will be for Macs to write to or you can format it to FAT and it can read and write to both. Check out the articles below for more information. Also check out the other discussion that I provided as another user found a 3rd party piece of software that may assist you further if you do not want to reformat the drive.
